A total of 126 terrorists have been neutralisedby security and defence personnel in the state of Jammu and Kashmir till June2019, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a written reply to the Rajya SabhaWednesday. The Centre also extradited or deported 27 accused terrorists in thelast three and a half years.
The Home Ministry also said that pursuant to Prime MinisterNarendra Modi-led NDA government’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism, theforces were taking proactive measures to neutralise terrorists. Modi governmentsuccessfully arrested 16 terrorists via the International Criminal PoliceOrganization (Interpol) in so far 2019. In 2018, 24 arrests were made throughthe global police organisation, 35 in 2017, and 36 in 2016.
India also sent 41 Red Corner Notice for internationalarrests to the Interpol in 2019 so far, out of which 32 have been published. In2016, the CBI sent 91 notices, of which 87 was published. In 2017, 94 noticeswere sent, of which 87 were published while in 2018, 123 notices were sent, outof which just 76 were publishedAs many as 963 terrorists were neutralised inJammu and Kashmir since 2014, after PM Modi came into power. The data wasfurnished by the Ministry of Home Affairs in a written reply in the Lok Sabhaon Tuesday. On Monday, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik had informedthe Rajya Sabha that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a total of 318 terroristattacks in 2018, which is 187 more than the number of attacks in 2017.India haswitnessed several terror attacks in the year 2019 as well, including theFebruary 14 terror attack on a convoy of CRPF personnel in Pulwama. The attackcarried out by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber had resulted inmartyrdom of over 40 CRPF personnel.
